Your information

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 17, 2026

The short version: we use personal information to run accounts, comments, email and site security. Marketing email is optional. We do not currently use advertising cookies or behavioural analytics, and we do not show your email address with public comments.

1. What this policy covers

This policy covers hockeypricehub.com, including the research update list, accounts, article comments and messages sent to our contact address. We will update it before adding materially different uses such as advertising analytics or new retailer tracking.

2. Information you give us

  • Your name, email address, optional gear question and submission time when you request research updates.
  • Your name, email address and profile details supplied through Google or email-link sign-in.
  • Comments, replies and other content you choose to submit.
  • Information in corrections, business inquiries, account requests and privacy messages you email to us.

3. Information created when you use the site

The site and its service providers receive information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as IP address, browser or device details, request time, session identifiers and security events. Comment rate limits store a keyed digest instead of the full IP address in the rate-limit record. Authentication sessions may retain IP address and browser information for account security.

4. How we use information

  • Run sign-in, accounts, comments and moderation.
  • Send requested magic links and important service messages.
  • Notify an administrator about a new comment, including the commenter's display name and comment text.
  • Send gear research, recommendations and retailer offers only after a separate marketing opt-in.
  • Use reader questions to choose useful research topics.
  • Prevent spam, fraud, abuse and unauthorized access.
  • Maintain the site and respond to lawful requests.

5. What becomes public

When a comment is published, its text, date and account display name are public. Your email address, sign-in profile image and internal account identifier are not included in the public comment response. Comments held for review are available to moderators and may not appear publicly. Deleting a comment removes its text and public author name, while an anonymous thread marker and date may remain so replies still make sense.

6. Optional marketing email

Signing in, requesting a magic link or posting a comment does not subscribe you to marketing. We ask separately before sending gear recommendations, retailer offers, affiliate-linked messages or promotional updates. We keep a versioned record of the choice. Signed-in users can change it from their account, and anyone can withdraw a request by emailing info@hockeypricehub.com. Update-list requests remain pending until the email address is confirmed and an unsubscribe path is available.

7. Service providers

Cloudflare delivers and protects the site and provides database and object storage. Google processes account information when you choose Google sign-in. Resend sends magic links and administrator notifications; after an explicit opt-in, it can also store and synchronize a marketing preference. These providers may process information in countries outside yours, where local law applies.

If you follow a link to a manufacturer, retailer or another site, that site receives information from your browser and applies its own privacy policy.

8. Sharing

We do not sell personal information for money. We share it with service providers when needed to operate the site, when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to protect readers and the service. Public comment information is shared as described above.

9. Cookies and similar storage

We use essential cookies or similar browser storage to keep you signed in, protect the site and remember necessary preferences. We do not currently use advertising cookies or behavioural analytics. If that changes, we will update this policy and obtain any consent required before enabling them.

10. Retention and security

We retain information while it is reasonably needed to provide the features described here, maintain consent and opt-out records, resolve disputes, protect the service and meet legal obligations. Different records serve different purposes and are not all kept for the same length of time. We use access controls, secret storage, hashed one-time tokens and moderation controls, but no internet service can promise absolute security.

11. Your choices

Depending on the law that applies, you may ask to access or correct your information, withdraw consent, delete an account or comment, or raise a concern about how information is handled. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where law, security or an opt-out record requires it.

Email privacy@hockeypricehub.com with “Privacy request” in the subject. You can also use the contact page.

12. Children

People of all ages may read the articles. Accounts, comments and email subscriptions are not intended or permitted for children under 13. A parent may subscribe using the parent's own name and email, but should not submit a child's identifying information. If we learn that we collected personal information directly from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to remove it.

13. Changes and contact

Questions and requests can be sent to privacy@hockeypricehub.com. Material revisions will be posted here with a new last-updated date.
